5FENG 311Intensive Listening & Speaking3This course provides students with basic listening and speaking abilities through various types of activities in everyday contexts. It is focused upon a variety of English sounds (vowels, consonants, and diphthongs), stress pattern, and intonation). Material are presented in a variety of short functional texts with exercises covering sound recognition and discriminations and their meanings. At the end of this course, the students are able to communicate confidently, fluently and accurately in non-formal settings by applying appropriate listening and speaking strategies.
6FENG 312Intensive Reading & Writing3This course enables students to read different short passages: narrative, descriptive, expository, and literature with basic competence such as completing story, synonym, antonym, getting main ideas, and others. This also develops students’ reading strategies. Furthermore, this course is also designed to equip the student to be able to write English sentences correctly using different sentence patterns and get familiar with basic English writing skill. In addition to the different sentence patterns, the topics covered are simple and perfect tenses, compound sentences, and complex sentences. This course also covers the topic of mechanics: spelling and punctuation. At the end of the course, students are expected to comprehend short passage well and produce simple English writing correctly.
7FENG 313Intensive Grammar2This course provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical experiences in understanding and applying basic and fundamental grammatical rules in English. It enhances students to gain the use and rule of part of speech which will discuss in depth about nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs. It also facilitates students to learn and practice about phrases, clauses and general overview of simple tenses. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to develop and create phrase and clause correctly as well as to make sentences based on simple tenses.
8FENG 314General Vocabulary2This course is presented to give knowledge and understanding on the system and kinds of English vocabulary to enhance oral and written skill of English. The course would introduce word classes, function and content words, colloquial, hyponym, word formation. The course is specifically designed to develop the students’ knowledge on high-frequency words used in primary classroom materials and interaction. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to demonstrate mastery in 300 high-frequency words in English.
9FENG 315Computer Literacy2Computer Literacy adalah mata kuliah pengenalan tentang pengetahuan dasar komputer dan aplikasi perkantoran. Tujuan dari mata kuliah ini adalah memperkenalkan mahasiswa pada penggunaan komputer dan aplikasi perkantoran. Pada mata kuliah ini, mahasiswa berlatih untuk memanfaatkan fitur dalam “File tab” secara optimal, mengenali dan menggunakan antarmuka MS Office, memanfaatkan fitur clipboard secara optimal, “font” secara optimal, “paragraph” secara optimal, “styles” secara optimal, “editing” secara optimal, “insert” secara optimal, “page setup” secara optimal, “references” secara optimal. Training students in understanding audio-taped materials through recorded voice of native speakers in form of conversation, interview, short exchanges or other speech events. It is focused upon a variety of English material contains at the linguistic level short sentences, basic vocabulary, and simple constructions.
6FENG 322Intermediate Speaking2This course focuses on training the students’ speaking skill through having various activities and topic to build their transactional and interpersonal skills. The topics cover various expressions enable them to accomplish both formal and informal situations. The activities include both conversations and monologues.
7FENG 323Intermediate Reading2This course is enabling students to read different kinds of passages: narrative, descriptive, expository, and literatures. This also develops students’ critical thinking strategies.
8FENG 324Paragraph Writing2This course provides students to be able to write different types of paragraph correctly. this course also introduces the students to the three elements of paragraph and acquaints them to unity, coherence and some prewriting techniques. by the end of this course, the students are able to write a good paragraph correctly.
9FENG 325Intermediate Grammar2This course is the second series of Grammar courses offered. Intermediate Grammar is designed to equip students with knowledge of the basic theory of English grammar. There are some topics covered such as tenses, modals, comparisons, and WH questions.
10FENG 326Academic Vocabulary2This course is designed to help students develop a range of low frequency vocabulary generally required to deal with basic to intermediate communication tasks in listening, reading, speaking, and writing.

3FENG 331Advanced Listening2This course provides students with knowledge and practices on listening to English spoken texts, so that they will be able to retrieve information accurately. Teaching materials have been selected to accommodate students’ interest and level. The materials are in the forms of songs, short clips, movie trailers, dialog, and announcements. Lessons are
delivered through lecture and conducted through class discussion.
4FENG 332Advanced Speaking2This course is designed students to become active, responsive, and resourceful participants of various roles informal meetings/ academic activities such as panel discussions and debate. It is also designed to enable students to express their ideas spontaneously in other activities such as news reporting and article retelling.
5FENG 333Advanced Reading2This course is enabling students to read different kinds of passages: narrative, descriptive, expository, and literatures. This also develops students’ critical thinking strategies.
6FENG 334Essay Writing2This course is designed to equip the students with the skill to be able to write different types of short essays correctly. This course also introduces the students to the three elements of essays; introductory paragraph, body, and concluding paragraph. The course also acquaints students to unity, coherence, and some pre-writing techniques especially outlining. The types of essays selected for this course are descriptive, classification, process, narrative, comparison and contrast, as well as cause and effect essays. At the end of the course, students are expected to produce coherent and cohesive English essays with correct writing structures and grammars.
7FENG 335Advanced Grammar2This course is the third series of Grammar courses offered. Advanced English Grammar is designed to equip students with knowledge of theory of English grammar. There are some topics covered such as passive voice, gerund, noun clause and adjective clause
8FENG 336Introduction to Linguistics2This course is designed to provide the students with introductory knowledge of language and linguistics; language as a reflection of the structure of the human mind and human culture, the various levels of linguistic structure (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics), language use (semantics and pragmatics), language as a social phenomenon (sociolinguistics, language and power), and the universality of language. At the end of the course, students are able to understand basic principles of the study of language.
9FENG 337Introduction to Educational Literature2This course is aimed to provide students with the definition, identification, and basic pattern for some key concepts of literary genres: features, characteristics, formats, basic styles, and their working mechanisms so that the students can apply that when they teach later.
10FENG 431Introduction to TEFL2This course provides students with trends of language teaching development comprising, approaches, methods, and techniques. The teaching and learning process are managed under discussion and practice of Contextual Teaching and Learning, Scientific Approach, Problem-based Learning, Discovery Learning, Collaborative Learning, and Cooperative Learning. This is aimed at facilitating the students understand such matter. At the end of the course, students are able to practice current methods and techniques applied in Indonesian schools, and to observe teaching and learning activities.
11FENG 432Language Curriculum Design2This course provides students with theoretical knowledge of curriculum and its components as well as the implication towrds English language teaching. It studies curriculum in terms of the history, nature, theoretical foundation, components, the differences and similarities, and its pedagogical implication. It also gives students practical experiences to explore and develop the latest national administrated curriculum into its components. This course facilitates students to discuss about K-13 curriculum and Merdeka Belajar Program as well as to develop instructional documents such as Silabus, Program Tahunan, Program Semester and Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP).

5FENG 341Academic Listening2This course provides students with the ability and skills in listening scientific texts sourced from various academic activities such as seminars, lectures, meetings and others. Lecture materials include a variety of functional texts with exercises in recording information, making summaries, and concluding implied meaning in the audio form. Class activities include listening to audio as an input, discussing and concluding meanings in exercises, and having listening assignment (individual, pairs, and groups). The activities emphasize the skill of inferring implied information.
6FENG 342Academic Speaking2This course is aimed at developing the students’ skill and competence in expressing their ideas, thoughts, and feelings in more formal ways (introduction to formal English use in various public speaking activities) in non academic settings. Fluency, accuracy, communicativeness, and appropriateness should be focused on. The topics covered are interview, news reporting, articles retelling and presentation in non-formal setting. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to express their ideas spontaneously.
7FENG 343Academic Reading2This course is designed to equip the students with knowledge and practical ability to read scientific texts in English. this course enables students to analyze the text structure and evaluate academic articles with specific strategies such as finding main ideas, making inferences, finding details. by the end of the course, students are able to demonstrate and apply the reading strategies and knowledge in oral or written form.
8FENG 344Academic Writing2The course is aimed to give student some knowledge in writing paper or research report. The topics are selected to guide student for their final task as a collage student. Include: IMRD (Introduction, Method, Result, and Discussion) as four elements of scientific writing, the content of research report, How to write quotation, paraphrasing, avoiding plagiarism, Practice in writing abstract of research, how to write references, etc. By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to write a simple research report in various topic of teaching English, English literature or any aspect of language skill.
9FENG 345PEnglish for Business**2This course provides students an introduction in business activities nowadays and the future, how to deal with the competition to get a job and knowledge about entrepreneurship in digital era. It discuss about Kinds of Interview, How to Write CV and Resume, concern about Company Profile: Logo, company’s vision and mission, organizational structure, company’s product, promotion, conventional business and digital business.
10FENG 346BIndonesian Language for Foreigners**2This course is aimed to make students comprehend basic principles of Indonesian Language for Foreigners (BIPA). The students also learn about material development, method, media, and evaluation that are useful to manage BIPA class. Furthermore, the students are trained to teach BIPA through teaching simulation. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to teach Indonesian for foreigners at beginner level.
11FENG 347LOral Literature**2The students are supposed to be able to explain the nature of oral literature, identify the distinctive feature of every oral culture in each region.
12FENG 441Practice on TEFL2This course provides students with current approaches, methods, and techniques in teaching and learning English. Teaching and learning process are managed under discussion and practice of pre, while, and post activities. It is aimed to facilitate the students understand such matters. At the end of the course, students are able to teach four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and two language elements (vocabulary, grammar) by using current methods and techniques applied in Indonesian schools.
13FENG 442English for Young Learners2This course is provided to give appropriate theories of English for young learners. The teaching and learning process are managed under the discussion and aimed at facilitating the students to understand the characteristics of young learners, introduction to theoretical foundations of how language are learned, the nature of language skills for young learners, teaching instruction, media, and evaluation. At the end of the course, the students are expected to make report related to the topic of the course based on classroom observation.

5FENG 351Cross Cultural Understanding2This course consists of theories and practice of how culture differentiates the way of language used; how a speaker of certain language and a member of certain culture adapt to a new culture; how to generate positive understanding towards varied cultural system (including but not limited to the religious belief, wedding tradition and family, personal relationship, food and eating etiquette). The students will promote the diversity of cultures through project at the end of the course.
6FENG 352Second Language Acquisition2The purpose of this course is to introduce students to historical and contemporary theoretical perspectives on second language (L2) acquisition. During the course, students will be provided with a basic level of knowledge about second language learning phenomena as part of general education in humanities, the social science, and education. At the end of the course, the students would be able to demonstrate understanding about second language acquisition and how it is related to language education in form of scientific article.
7FENG 353BTeaching Indonesian Language for Foreigners**2This course provide students with practical experiences in teaching Bahasa for foreigners. the students are encouraged to teach BIPA through teaching practice and simulation. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to teach Indonesian for foreigners
8FENG 354PEnglish for Tourism**2This course focuses on the use of English in tourism. It covers both the spoken and written. The students are expected to identify and express tourism specific vocabularies terminology and expressions.
9FENG 355LBorneo Traditional Literature**2This course focuses on the traditional literature of Borneo, such as legend, folklore and any literature produced before 1910. In this course, the students will be introduced to many different genres of literature. The students are expected to be able to recognize local literature of Borneo, including its genre, structure, products, and transmission.
10FENG 451Language Testing and Assessment2this course provide students with the understanding of background theories and principles of assessment in English Language teaching , including proceduresof test construction. Topics includes the basic concepts of asssessment in ELT, the approaches, function, types of language assessment instrument, and elementary statistics related to language assessment.
11FENG 452Micro Teaching2This course provides students with the knowledge of eight teaching competences: 1) Introductory Procedure and Closure, 2) Questioning Skills, 3) Variability, 4) Reinforcement, 5) Explaining, 6) Classroom Management and Dicipline, 7) Guiding Small Group Discussion, 8) Small Group Teaching and Individualize Instruction. Teaching and learning process are managed under discussion and practice in the form of micro teaching. It is aimed to facilitate the students understand such matters. At the end of the course, students are able to demonstrate eight teaching competences based on various learning situation.
12FENG 453Teaching English to Young Learners3This course is available for students who have passed the English for Young Learners course. As the continuation of the course, TEYL course is presented to provide students with theories and practices on how to teach students from grade 1 to 6 of elementary school. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to make teaching documents (lesson plan, material, evaluation, and media) and perform teaching practice for primary school students.
13FENG 551Introduction to Research2This course helps students to have a positive attitude towards scientific research and develop the knowledge of research methodology in education area. Further, the students will be invited to have more discussion on developing a good understanding of critical issues and problems in education area, research designs (including but not limited to experimental study, case-study, descriptive study). These all will be discussed in both qualitative and quantitative paradigms. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to demonstrate the understanding about specific features of research designs.

The emphasis is on the sociology of language, language variation, language and gender, national language, language maintenance and shift, and language and social strata
3FENG 363PEnglish for Media and Journalism**2This course is practical study to provide students with technical terms in journalism and experiences in the field of journalism. Topics Include the development and current attitudes of journalism; its tools and function; logical skills to develop news; technique of interviewing; and online journalism. By the end of the semester, students are required to produce either invistigate report on newss-worthy issue of their own choice or some news-article of which topics are selected on the basis of current/relevant situation.
4FENG 364BLanguage Games**2This course is presented to equip students with games that can be integrated into English teaching classroom. This course covers the topics of kinds of games, games and language learning, games for specific skills, related vocabulary, ICT-based games, and local/traditional-based games. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to modify/develop games and integrate them into the language learning.
5FENG 365LBorneo Modern Literature **2This course focuses on the recent literature of Borneo, which covers any literature produced after 1910 until today. In this course, the students will be introduced to many different genres of literature. The students are expected to be able to recognize local literature of Borneo, including its genre, structure, products, and transmission.
6FENG 461Instructional Media &Activities in Language Teaching (IMALT)2The course provides students with some theoretical and practical knowledge of instructional media covering the various kinds of media, skills of selecting, developing, operating inexpensive visuals for EFL classes, using printed materials including songs and games related to primary and secondary instruction of English. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to design an instructional media and demonstrate the use of the media in language learning.
7FENG 462ELT Curriculum Development2This course facilitates students to have experiences and practices in reviewing and developing curriculum for English language teaching context for both formal and non formal institutions. It enhances students to analyze and explore the components and parts of curriculum such as the learning objectives and outcomes, scope and sequence of the school subjects/programs as well as the learning activities and evaluation.
8FENG 463Language Classroom Management2This course provides students with a basic knowledge of classroom management which covers school philosophy, classroom procedures and rules, behaviour modification, physical features of a classroom, teaching aids, school facilities, teacher roles and styles, teacher talk, and selected problems, virtual classroom management, associated with classroom management.
9FENG 464Language Assessment Development3This course provides students with an oppurtunity to apply the principles of language learning and assessment provide in FENG451 Language Learning assessment in English language teaching situations. This course includes pratical knowledge necessary to construct variety of assessment devices based on principles and approaches in language learning assessment and to evaluate assessment practices in schools.
10FENG 465Syllabus and Materials Development2This course provides students with theoretical knowledge and practical experiences in designing and developing syllabus and materials for instructions. As it is in line with the previous course, languague curriculum design, This course focuses on syllabus and materials development for English language program. In addition, this course also enhances students ability in selecting and evaluating relevant language learning materials and sources to the students’ needs.

1FENG 371Socio-Pragmatics2This course is a combination between the study of meaning (semantics) and the study of meaning in context (pragmatics). It deals with the study of language from the users’point of view, especially of the choices they make, the constraints they encounter in using language in social interaction, and the effects their use of language has on the other participants in an act of communication. Topics to discuss include Meaning and Context, Reference and Inference, Presupposition and Entailment, Deixis, Cooperation and Implicature, Speech Acts and Events, Politeness and Interaction. By the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to describe meaning by using meaning analysis in classroom situation.
2FENG 372Translation and Language Pedagogy2The course is designed to develop students’ knowledge of the basic theory, concept, and technique of translation. The course also includes practice in translation, tools in translation and strategy for teaching translation. It is divided into two section; 1) translation English to bahasa Indonesia and 2) translation bahasa Indonesia to English. The Topics include: translating public notice, translating text found in junior/senior high school student’s book, translating nation document, translating Banjarese story, translating fairy tales, translating business letter, translating songs, translating news, translating idiom etc.
3FENG 571TELL (Technology Enhance Language Learning)The course introduces the students to the various concepts in distance learning and the current supporting technology with which may enhance the student’s language learning and teaching experience. The focus would be the digital technology and internet based technology, such as Edmodo, Google Classroom, MS Teams, Moodle, Canva. The goal of the course is that the students will be able to utilize the already mentioned technology. At the of the course, the students are expected to be able to operate Internet Based Media

5FENG 573Classroom Action Research2This course is to study about how to conduct classroom action research based on the circumstance of local schools they have observed. The teaching learning process is managed under students’ presentation and classroom discussion. This course covers the topics of CAR in general, conducting CAR, collecting data for CAR, analysing CAR, and writing report of CAR. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to write a report includes the identification of teaching problems in English classrooms and the solutions suggested
6FENG 574Thesis Proposal Seminar2This course is designed to help the students in writing their research proposal through advisor’s guidance. The course will review the topics discussed on the previous series of research. The research proposal includes background of research, review of related literature, and research methodology. broaden the learners’ perspectives of various issues on ESL/EFL and ELT field. The learning activities include the identification of ESL/EFL and ELT problems through advisor’s guidance, making it in research design, and presenting the research design in the form of seminar. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to present their research proposal (includes background, literature review, and methodology) in the form of seminar.
